Your family photo session

Family is where my heart is and I have no doubt you feel the same. I blend the intangible beauty of analog photography with the versatility of digital photography all while reflecting your authentic love and connections. Your session will be worry-free since I’ve taken care of all the details ahead of time, leaving you with space to simply enjoy your family.

Before your session

I try to do my absolute best to make sure all my families feel fully prepared going into their photo session. Some of the things I include in every session to ensure this are:

A pre-session questionnaire so I can get to know you and your family better.

A prep guide to answer all your burning questions.

An outfit inspiration guide so you and your family look your best on the day of your session.

Plenty of communication so you’re never left in the dark.

what to expect

To reserve the time and date for your session, you’ll fill out some short paperwork and pay a Session Fee of $300. This is all online in my convenient client portal. The system will walk you through the whole thing, so it really couldn’t be easier! The Session Fee covers my preparations for your session, but does not include digital images or physical products. That’s where my collections come in! But don’t worry, you don’t need to choose a collection until after you’ve had a chance to view the final images.

The Session Fee covers my preparations for your session, but does not include digital images or physical products. That’s where my collections come in!

My sessions typically take 60-90 minutes, but I do stay flexible in case we need to take a break for any reason.

I like to schedule my sessions outdoors and preferably after the harsh noon hour. However, I am absolutely willing to do indoor sessions or sessions at a different time.

If you have a particular date or holiday by which you need prints or gifts (Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Hanukkah, Christmas, etc.) be sure to book a date at least one month in advance of that date to ensure significant processing and printing time.

During and after your session

I like to make my sessions light, fun, and natural. Expect minimal posing, but some prompting and guidance to achieve those authentic reactions and connections. My family sessions feature love, connection, laughter, and play!

I also provide plenty of communication after your session so you have all the information you need to fully enjoy your images.

what to expect

Each of my collections include a pre-shoot consultation call, prep guide, and an online gallery to view your images. Additionally, any digital images you receive through your package include a print release, so you have the option to print your images whenever and wherever you’d like.

That being said, it’s so important to me you have something tangible from your session, so that’s why I include a substantial artwork credit in all my collections. The artwork credit can be used on anything in my gallery store. I’ve tried hard to include a large variety of beautifully crafted pieces in my store to ensure that everything I offer will not only look lovely in your home, but will also be made to last.

Collections start at $800 and include digital images with print release as well as artwork credit to use in the online gallery store.

Crystal made it so easy for us

Our session was very last minute and as a family we were pretty unprepared, but you would have never guessed it by the way our photos turned out. High quality, detailed, and Crystal made sure to catch our more flattering angles. She is my new go-to.

Crystal Berry is very talented

She took our family photos and we were very impressed. Crystal has lovely positive energy that kept my little kids engaged throughout the session. She was well prepared with recommendations on coordinating outfits, potential sites for the session and ideas for the photoshoot. The whole session felt very natural and engaging, we had a lot of fun as a family. Love the edits she produced. Highly recommend!

Crystal did an amazing job capturing the true essence of our family!

We had Crystal provide family photography as we prepared to bid mom/wife goodbye amidst a terminal diagnosis. Crystal met us at family home and was able to work with us to provide the most treasured final memories. The photos reflect every element of raw emotion we faced that day. Joyful memories and celebration coupled with pure authentic love and compassion. Crystal was gracious and patient and gave us freedom within creative process. Thank you Crystal for the incredible gift of allowing us to see beauty in family and to have these incredible heartfelt pictures to hold dear.

How do I know if you're the right photographer for my family?

The easiest way to figure this out is to get on the phone with me. You can easily find the best time that works for you by using the form at the bottom of this page to schedule a 15 minute call with me.

What makes you different?

While I like to think it’s my stunning personality, what really sets me apart is the fact that I deliver beautiful, authentic family photos using film and digital photography while taking all the pressure off and making the process super easy (and fun!).

How do I schedule a session with you?

The easiest way to figure out our calendars is to have a quick chat over the phone. You can click to button at the bottom of this page to find a time that works for you.

Where are you located?

I am in Oregon, WI, but serve the greater Madison and Dane County area.

What do we wear?

Don’t stress too much about this! I send all my clients an outfit inspiration guide. I’ve also put together a couple of helpful blog posts about the subject here and here.

Where are your sessions?

My family sessions are usually outdoors, in parks around Madison, WI, your backyard, or any other place that is special to your family.

What if it looks like rain?

I absolutely can and do reschedule sessions because of inclement weather. I’ll be checking in a couple days before our session to confirm, so we can make any rescheduling plans then! I also am able to move to an indoor location if sticking to the original schedule is a priority.

What if my child is coming down with the flu?

Yikes! That’s no fun and I’ve definitely been there. Again, I’ll be in touch a couple days before our scheduled session, so if someone isn’t feeling well at that time, we can talk about rescheduling.

What if my child is really shy?

Try not to stress if your kids are shy – I want to capture who they are and the connections they have with you. If it means they get a few extra snuggles, all the better!

What if I have a wild child??

This is totally ok, too! Kids have all different levels of energy (trust me, my three span the whole range). I’m used to chaos and can absolutely get beautiful images of your child however energetic they are.

What if my spouse/child isn't into it?

I don’t force it! A big part of what I do is build connections with people to make them feel comfortable. I want everyone to enjoy this time, so I’m more than willing to meet them where they are.

What if my child is misbehaving?

If a kid is acting up, we might take the focus away from them for a bit so they can cool off. They can hang out while I get some photos of parents. One thing to note is I’ve found that children are usually more willing to listen to adults who are not their parents, so while I, of course, won’t be disciplining your children, I have no problem giving them straightforward direction if needed.
