Important Statements

from my heart

I believe that…

Black Lives Matter

Black lives matter yesterday, today, tomorrow, and always. From a personal and professional perspective, I am always trying to grow and develop when it comes to my internal biases and making the spaces that I occupy a welcome place for those of all races and ethnicities, especially those that have been and continue to be marginalized by our society at large.

Love is Love

LGBTQ+, BIPOC, differently-abled, and non-traditionally structured families are welcomed and celebrated at Crystal Berry Photography.

We Are on Native Land

Crystal Berry Photography occupies ancestral Ho-Chunk land, a place their nation has called Teejop since time immemorial. In an 1832 treaty, the Ho-Chunk were forced to cede this territory. Decades of ethnic cleansing followed when both the federal and state government repeatedly, but unsuccessfully, sought to forcibly remove the Ho-Chunk from Wisconsin. This history of colonization informs our shared future of collaboration and innovation. Today, I respect the inherent sovereignty of the Ho-Chunk Nation, along with the eleven other First Nations of Wisconsin.

Science is Real

Science has allowed my husband and me to have the family we always dreamed of. Science has allowed us all to have access to life-saving vaccines. As such, I believe in the importance and necessity of the Covid-19 vaccine.

I have privilege

As a straight, white, cis-gender woman living in the Midwest of America, I have certain privileges. It is my intention to not abuse these privileges, but rather to use them to lift up the voices of those who are inherently less privileged.

Please note

If any of these statements offend you, I am not the right photographer for you.
